Annelie Schubert’s Minimalism Rewarded at the Hyères Festival

On the occasion of the Var festival’s 30th edition, the fashion designer Annelie Schubert was awarded the coveted "Grand Prix First Vision." A distinction earned by her minimal silhouettes focusing on a reinterpreted apron.

For thirty years now, over the course of a weekend, the Villa Noailles has been welcoming the creme de la creme of young designers in fashion and photography to the heart of its modernist ensemble, perched on the heights of Hyères. An event created by the director Jean-Pierre Blanc, eager to convince the Parisian fashion world of the legitimacy of his villa in the south, which has already launched Viktor & Rolf and Anthony Vaccarello.

This year again, 1,500 guests invaded this graphic setting to discover, for the fashion side of things, the inventive pieces by the ten international talents in the competition. Chaired by Virginie Viard, director of Chanel’s design studio, the festival jury fell in love with Franco-German designer Annelie Schubert’s "aprons" collection.

Transforming the traditional apron into a feminine piece playing with materials and volumes, the 28-year-old designer, a graduate from the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, won unanimous support. "Annelie has taste and elegance; she is an engaging personality, of great sensitivity, unpretentious, simple and fresh," said the jury. Fine compliments that suggest a bright future for this latest winner!
