Christian Lacroix Brings New Life to the Jules César Hotel

After months of renovations, the five-star Jules César Hotel in Arles today reopens its doors to business. With a new design by Christian Lacroix, the hotel is now dressed in pretty colors and has adopted a new look, while respecting the building’s history.

A former monastery converted into a hotel in 1928, the Jules César Hotel in Arles entrusted Christian Lacroix with redecorating its interior. If the renaissance is obvious, the French designer was still required to respect the building’s historical integrity. Hand in hand with the architect Olivier Sabran, this lover of Arles heritage made sure to get back to the original architecture of the Carmelite convent, built in 1664.

After seven months of work, the Jules César Hotel today is enjoying a new lease of life! Inside, Christian Lacroix opted for the alliance of bright colors with a décor inspired by antiquity, without forgetting the many allusions to bullfighting, to the baroque, but also to contemporary design. The breakfast room looks like a farmhouse kitchen in shades of very charming gray-green, and the rooms are decorated with different atmospheres, such as Provencal or Camargue style, here adopting natural tones. To complete the renovation, the hotel will open a Spa in October to the delight of its guests!
